The lethargic Ofka is a little over 20 and still persists in remaining in limbo between childhood and adulthood. A confused loner, she solves her problems by changing her hairstyle, burying her artistic talent in the seedy Karlín all-night bar belonging to her brother-in-law Eda, and wasting her feelings on a playboy who is two-timing her with her best friend, Martina. The only person left for Ofka is her eccentric but loyal friend Ubr, who is hopelessly in love with her. Ofka does not return his feelings, however, and sometimes almost shows hostility to him. Then one evening she is attacked in the shop by a masked man who knifes her hand and steals the money from the till...
